I handed Caleb the first card, which were the things he had to figure out: Which game did Mommy want to play? And where did Mommy want to play it?
I handed him another index card after he read that. This one said:
The very first clue to find
is something you see every day
We try to eat dinner there
and talk about our day
It's the.....
Answer: Dining room table.
He found the next clue there. This index card had a very simple picture of a table on it, and the back of it read:
The second clue is a little sad
although it is in your room
Find the place where you sit and say
the name of the game we may play soon.
You say....
Answer: the couch in his room where he does timeout. He has to say sorry before he can come out of timeout and get hugs and kisses.
The last clue was there, with a very crude drawing of a couch on it (hey, I tried). This index card read:
The last clue is found behind a door
in a closet in the hallway
Now go to the couch, sit and think
Which game does Mommy want to play?
Answer: Sorry. We went to the closet where the game is kept, and had a decent game........
Until Caleb had a meltdown because Mommy won. Seriously, it is the first time I have won this game in 10 years, and that includes the 20 times I have played since Sunday! Oh, well, sometimes I just can't win.

After dinner game
For Super Bowl Sunday, we went over to my parent's. My mom taught Caleb the board game "Sorry" so we have "inherited" it early among other board games. DH has a meeting tonight, so it will just be Caleb and me after 6:30. I am planning on doing a Caleb's Clues for playing a game after dinner and after Daddy leaves.
First clue: The dining room table (where we will play)
Second clue: The couch in Caleb's room (a little loveseat in his room that he does timeout on, and then has to say sorry after)
Third clue: the closet where the board game is
There are a few games in that closet, so at that point, he can choose which game he wants to play, but "Sorry" has been a favorite since Sunday (okay, so only 2 days). Now, I just have to make the "clues" for Caleb to follow. I am debating making a little paper that says "clue" or trying to make riddles or poems for him to figure out.
Yesterday, however, was bad after school. If he has as bad a night as he did last night, "Caleb's Clues" may not be played tonight. We will have to file it for some other night. Wish us luck!
